The Knock is the first expansion released for Beat Machine and we know you proper Hip Hop heads are gonna love it. This vital collection features 100 fat (and we mean FAT) new Hip Hop drum kits that explore the heavier style of Hip Hop production. This bundle is jam packed full of incredible drum samples including kicks that thump through the mix, snares that crack with the weight of a heavy stick and live sounding hi-hats and percussion that add that crucial atmosphere to any beat.

We initially processed all these samples through a hired Manley Massive Passive  Tube EQ and a borrowed EMU SP1200 but as much as the SP1200 made the kicks and snares bang it took quite a bit of sheen away from the hi-hats and percussion. We thought about this for a while then decided to run them through our trusty MPC3000 instead, which fattened them up nicely but kept the top end tight and crispy!

With 49GB of data and over 80 kit-pieces offering huge timbral variety, BFD London Sessions also provides a wide range of mixing options. The legendary room at AIR's Lyndhurst Hall is captured by 2 pairs of room mics including a mid/side set capable of anything from true mono to richly expanded stereo. The mixing flexibility is further enhanced by 3 direct snare mics and far room mics packed with character and a huge sense of space.

The Neve console's AIR Montserrat preamps and Prism converters are used throughout, resulting in a warm yet defined sound. BFD Sphere is a hard rock and metal expansion pack for BFD3, BFD Eco and BFD2 produced by Tesseract and 4D Sounds founder Acle Kahney. Conceived as Kahney's ideal drum sound, the pack was recorded with Francesco Cameli (Bullet For My Valentine, Queen, Phil Collins, New Model Army and more) at London's Sphere Studios before its relocation.

The pack includes high-detail 4-tom DW and Vibe kits alongside a Ludwig Black Beauty snare. Drums were tuned to complement the acoustics of Sphere's live room and were hit by Jamie Postones (Tesseract) and Mike Malyan (Monuments) - highly skilled drummers well respected for bringing a new force to modern drumming. Neve preamps were used throughout for warmth and definition.

As well as the natural kits, BFD Sphere comes with additional processed versions designed to be dropped straight into metal and hard rock mixes. Our Eighth BigKick Expansion Comes Courtesy of Berlin Based Techno Producer Florian Meindl

Florian's Meindl is a DJ, live performer, studio producer and sound designer. In addition to numerous collaborations with international artists he runs his own Techno label FLASH Recordings and Riemann Modular, which is Florian's new studio gear company specialising in Eurorack Modules. Being regularly featured in production magazines such “FutureMusic” and running his own highly successful loops & sample label “Riemann Kollektion” we were glad to hear he was a using the BigKick and up for sharing his creations from within. 

Having just self released his latest LP 'Collide' on FLASH Recordings 2015 has been off to a great start for Florian. The LP follows in the musical footsteps of previous releases: deep techno embodying Florian's musical vision with minor chords meeting rough organic analogue drums. Collide takes the listener on a dark techno journey including collaboration with studio wizard Jamie Anderson. You can find his Remixes on labels like Octopus, FLASH, Phobiq and Boxer - Florian is resident in the creative Studio complex Riverside Studios Berlin.

Reel Machines is a collection of four mint-condition drum machines and a Simmons electronic drum kit from the eighties. All instruments were recorded on analog tape using some of the finest recording gear in the world. Each kit also includes actual plate reverb and real room ambience you can blend in for maximum sonic possibilities.

Reel Machines is a collection of the most iconic electronic drum sounds of the 80s. Unlike many sample libraries that simply record a machine's output, we recorded the instruments through a variety of analog tape machines for added warmth and punch. To make it even more special, each instrument includes real room ambience as well as with vintage plate reverb that you can blend in to fit your needs.
